Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a botulinum toxin type A injection for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines. The active ingredient in Xeomin works to temporarily prevent muscle contractions responsible for the formation of lines between the eyebrows. Xeomin generally takes 10 to 20 minutes to administer and has an onset of two to 10 days.
Xeomin results can last anywhere from three to six months, depending on your unique reaction.
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is a botulinum neurotoxin injection for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines. It is injected equally among the specific muscles that cause frown lines to temporarily prevent muscle activity. Generally, each treatment takes 10 to 20 minutes and has a quicker onset of action of one to three days.
Dysport can provide age-defying results for up to five months per treatment.
Dysport contains complexing proteins that are loosely attached to the neurotoxin, whereas Xeomin is just the neurotoxin — it has no additional proteins. Because of differing molecule makeups, Xeomin and Dysport require different dosages and have different diffusion properties after injection. We will help determine which neurotoxin is right for you during your personal consultation.
There is risk of slight bruising, swelling and/or pinpoint bleeding at the injection sites, which should subside on its own in the hours to days following treatment. To reduce the chances of bruising, avoid consuming alcohol and other blood thinners (such as aspirin and ibuprofen) up to a week before and after treatment.
